In November 2024, HOPA carried out a successful General Food Distribution in Panjwayi District, benefiting 1,167 vulnerable households. This initiative aimed to address food insecurity in the region by providing essential food items to communities in need. The distributed food packages included wheat flour, peas, cooking oil, salt, and nutritional supplements for vulnerable groups.

The distribution was managed by the Gulzar Group, with HOPA’s monitoring team ensuring the process adhered to set protocols. The distribution was conducted smoothly despite some logistical challenges, and the HOPA team worked diligently to ensure efficiency and safety throughout.

To enhance the experience for beneficiaries, gender-segregated queues and waiting areas were established, providing women with a comfortable and private environment to collect their food. Local community volunteers assisted in crowd management, ensuring a more organized flow of beneficiaries. Additionally, handwashing stations were set up at the Food Distribution Points (FDP) to promote hygiene and safety, in line with COVID-19 precautions.

Key message banners promoting PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and AAP (Accountability to Affected Populations) were prominently displayed, ensuring beneficiaries were informed about their rights and how to report any concerns. HOPA also ensured data privacy throughout the process, adhering to strict protocols to protect beneficiary information.

This food distribution not only provided critical relief to families facing food insecurity but also demonstrated HOPA's commitment to ensuring the efficiency, transparency, and safety of its operations in line with humanitarian principles. With a focus on continuous improvement, HOPA remains dedicated to enhancing the food assistance process for future distributions.
