Training on Communication Skills
As part of its ongoing staff capacity-building efforts, HOPA conducted a training session on Communication Skills on July 20, 2025, at the HOPA Main Office Conference Hall in Kandahar. The session was led by Mr. Abdul Raziq Rehan, an experienced trainer in communication and organisational behaviour.
The training aimed to strengthen team communication and improve the quality of humanitarian service delivery. Key topics included the communication process, various types of communication, and practical tools for enhancing clarity, active listening, and effective feedback.
A total of 18 staff members from different departments participated in interactive discussions and group exercises, drawing on real-life challenges from HOPA’s field operations. Participants expressed a greater awareness of communication barriers and learned strategies to overcome them.
Based on participant feedback, HOPA plans to conduct additional sessions focused on cross-cultural and conflict-sensitive communication, incorporating case studies and role-play to deepen understanding among field and community-facing teams.
💬 “This training was incredibly useful. Understanding effective communication will definitely help us work better as a team and ensure our messages are clear and respectful, especially in the field,” said one participant.
“HOPA staff actively participating in the Communication Skills training session, aimed at enhancing effective communication and teamwork across humanitarian operations.”
“The facilitator is explaining key concepts of Communication Skills to participants during the training session, and Participants are signing the attendance sheet at the HOPA Main Office.”
All participants successfully grasped the importance of effective communication in humanitarian settings. The session strengthened their ability to collaborate professionally, overcome communication barriers, and ensure clear, respectful engagement with both colleagues and community members.
