Promoting Health Through Hygiene Mohammad Shafi’s Journey to a Cleaner, Safer Home
On April 24, 2025, at the Kandahar City PD2 Food Distribution Point (FDP), a BMGF Facilitator interviewed Mohammad Shafi s/o Mohammad Ghani, a resident of PD-5, Kandahar City, and a registered beneficiary in the SCOPE system with Ration #1528. Mohammad Shafi had recently participated in a BMGF-supported health and hygiene awareness session, where he learned about critical hygiene practices such as handwashing with soap before and after meals, after using the toilet, and after handling animals, along with the importance of avoiding open defecation. He also adopted key kitchen hygiene measures like covering food, washing utensils properly, and keeping food preparation areas clean. Mohammad Shafi shared that after applying these practices, he observed a noticeable decrease in minor illnesses like diarrhea and stomach infections among his children. He expressed gratitude to the BMGF team for the life-improving guidance and committed to continuing these practices in his household. Consent for the interview and photo sharing was provided willingly by the beneficiary.
